We are now in the 4th quarter and have a lot of activities coming up. I encourage everyone to review their calendars and make sure to plan for some fun and exciting events. For example, Glow Ball Night on April 13 @ 6pm. This event is taking place at Arizona National and if you are interested please contact Karen Stewart at our Central campus.

Happy New Year!
Happy January!
After spending some holiday time reading some books with my family, I wanted to take a moment and share some easy ideas for reading with our children. Please look over the following list and appreciate the gift of reading with your children.
Read often to your child and have fun.
Snuggle when you read.
Make predictions (child tells what he/she thinks will happen next).
Enjoy the illustrations.
Talk about the authors and illustrators of the books you read.
Be patient while your child is reading aloud.
Have your child think of a new ending to the story.
Discuss similarities and differences between stories. (Great with Fairy Tales)
Alternate reading. You read a page, your child reads a page ,etc.
Check out the public library.
Keep a few “old favorite” books in the car to enjoy.

Happy November!
Dear LPA families,
As we wrap up the 1st quarter and begin the 2nd, we have a great deal to celebrate and to be thankful for in our lives. We thank parents for being so involved in our school. Also, thank you all for coming to the Harvest Festival and enjoying a fun-filled night. We are also grateful for our teachers, who work so hard at providing an excellent education for all of our students.
This month we will be celebrating several events, so please continue to read “The Link” that comes home every Monday with your son/daughter. La Paloma Academy will be hosting can food drives, clothing drives, gift baskets and other wonderful ways to share with our local community.
This is often the time of year where schedules are busy and our immunity is run down. Take time to keep yourself and your family well and enjoy the company of friends and family. I am truly grateful for the wonderful students, families and teachers at La Paloma Academy-Lakeside.

Welcome 2011-2012
Go Patriots!
Welcome back to an exciting year at La Paloma Academy-Lakeside. The staff and I are very excited that you have entrusted your child's education to us. We will make every effort to help you child achieve academically and socially this year. It is our goal to create an enriching learning environment that engages the student. Of course, as the first teachers in your child's life we need your support and cooperation. La Paloma Academy has an exciting teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. We also have an excellent support staff that work in many different capacities to support your child's learning.
I encourage you to become active within our school this year and support our many activities. These fundraisers and school events help support the school community and your participation promotes a successful partnership built on cooperation.
Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern please don't hesitate to contact their teacher. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can. La Paloma Academy is fortunate to have resources to support students and their families. Remember "working together makes a difference in the lives of our students."
